China: Video shows torrential rains and the collapse of a dam on the Duliu River in China, disrupting power, water and communication services and cutting off roads. Six people have died after heavy flooding hit Rongjiang County in Guizhou Province as of Saturday, according to local flood control authorities.
China’s National Flood and Drought Management Center has dispatched emergency teams to oversee flood response and rescue operations in the region. Since then, water levels in the region have fallen below the emergency level. Major roads reopened on Wednesday, but damage remains extensive.
As of Saturday, nearly 100,000 people had been evacuated from the region and moved to temporary shelters as water levels continued to rise, with some areas seeing only slight drops.
